SSP investigation assures solution of jewellers’ problems

LAHORE There is an urgent need to evolve a comprehensive strategy regarding jewellers’ community issues relating to police. For this purpose a meeting will be arranged regarding recovery of stolen jewellery between the jewellers’ representatives and police investigation departments so that an amicable solution could be found.

This was stated by Zulfiqar Hameed, Senior Superintendent Police, while talking to a delegation of the Regional Standing Committee on Gems and Jewellery Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, headed by its Chairman Muhammad Ahmad. The delegation include: Haji Aminuddin, Patron-in-Chief, |Lahore Division Sarafa and Jewellers Association (LDSJA); Haji Muhammad Afzal, President, LDSJA; Rana Muhammad Asghar; Rana Mazhar Hussain; Muhammad Shafiq Butt; Muhammad Anwar Bajwa and Syed Masood Ali.

SSP Zulfiqar Hameed asked the jewellers to fulfill all legal requirements and apply full satisfaction while purchasing jewellery in order to avoid any problem. SSP announced that formation of a separate cell would be recommended in connection with the recovery of stolen jewellery. Jewellers representatives informed him that police harass jewellers in connection with the recovery of stolen jewellery. They requested the SSP to stop this practice. Muhammad Ahmad and other members of the delegation assured complete cooperation to SSP.
